Serenading Melbourne with 24 Pianos
Arts Centre Melbourne’s city-wide art installation, Play Me I’m Yours, was launched last night in front of the enormous crowd that gathered on the grassy lawn between the two buildings.
The public launch was hosted by Libbi Gorr from 774ABC Melbourne and outlined the Arts Centre’s focus on interactive works which allow the population of Melbourne to express their musical side. And if that wasn’t enough, the launch of this new event featured a specially commissioned overture for 24 pianos performed by a wide variety of professionals, community players and plenty of children – who certainly excelled at the Chopsticks section of the overture!
Check out the wide range of painted pianos that will be placed around the city for your enjoyment if you feel the need to break out into song in the middle of the day.
