If you hadn’t noticed over the last couple of weeks with the rain and cold temperatures, it’s summer in Melbourne! And summer carries its own traditions in Melbourne. There is the Australian Open, lazy days on the beach and another highlight from Melbourne Zoo: Zoo Twilights.

Zoo Twilights is returning this year with some of the best international and local talent taking to the stage in the unique environment of Melbourne Zoo with all proceeds going towards helping Zoos Victoria fight wildlife extinction. Featuring fourteen artists over fourteen nights, there is something for everyone with concerts ever Friday and Saturday between January 24 and March 8.

This concert series is another great example, alongside I, Animal, of a Zoo offering designed for new demographics. With selected animal exhibits open until 7.30pm and special evening keeper talks for the Gorillas, Seals, Elephants and Giraffes, it is an opportunity to experience the Zoo in a different light before enjoying a concert in the beautiful Zoo surrounds.

Among the high profile acts this year are Perfect Tripod with their highly acclaimed Australian Songs show (Friday 24 January), Katie Noonan’s Songs That Made Me (Friday 31 January), BABBA (Saturday 25 January) and Something for Kate (Friday 21 February).

If you want tickets you had better get booking because Jessica Mauboy (Saturday 1 February) and Xavier Rudd (Saturday 15 February) have already sold out!

The opening show of this year’s Zoo Twilights season is the talented and hilarious combination of Eddie Perfect and Tripod in their highly acclaimed show Australian Songs on Friday 24 January. And the good news . . . Melbourne Zoo has given me three double passes to give away!

To enter the competition, all you need to do is tell me your favourite Australian song. It could be a Cold Chisel rock anthem, a Kylie Minogue disco hit, a Daryl Braithwaite classic or even our own Australian national anthem (the Advance Australia Fair one or the unofficial John Farnham one!).

Leave your favourite Australian song below along with your name, email and postal address so that the tickets can be sent to you if you are one of the lucky three. The winners will be randomly drawn and announced on Thursday 16 January.

Competition entries close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 15 January 2014.
