The Production Company Launch 2014
After a sell-out season last year, The Production Company has announced this year’s season to great applause from a number of patrons, sponsors and media in attendance.
Now in its fifteenth year, Jeanne Pratt’s Production Company continues to grow. After last year’s strong reception the company has decided to significantly extend the number of performances for each show with the first two shows being performed ten times and a record seventeen performances for the last production.
The 2014 season will open with Guys & Dolls at the Arts Centre’s State Theatre from July 19. The ten performances of this classic show will feature Verity Hunt-Ballard as Sarah Brown, Martin Crewes as Sky Masterson, Chelsea Plumley as Miss Adelaide and Adam Murphy as Nathan Detroit. The company will be directed by the award winning Gale Edwards alongside Music Director Guy Simpson and Choreographer Nathan M. Wright.
Following Guys & Dolls, for another ten performances will be Hamerstein & Kern’s Show Boat. Directed by Roger Hodgman, the show will star Alinta Chidzey, Christina O’Neill, Gareth Keegan, Philip Gould and Eddie Muliaumaseali’l in this musical masterpiece. Joining Roger Hodgman will be Musical Director Kellie Dickerson and Choreographer Dana Jolly.
Rounding out the year, The Production Company will present a work that has been given a recent revival on the Broadway and West End stage. From the Tony Award winning Harvey Fierstein (the man behind Newsies and the current Broadway smash-hit Kinky Boots) and Jerry Herman comes La Cage Aux Folles. Leading this production will be Australian leading men Todd McKenney and Simon Burke accompanied by musical theatre legend Rhonda Burchmore. These three stars will be joined by Director Dean Bryant, Musical Director Matthew Frank and Choreographer Andrew Hallsworth.
