Using Your Powers For Good

Privacy is a funny concept. We each cling to our own privacy as the internet slowly uncovers more and more about each of us, yet there is a whole industry of tabloid magazines which is fuelled by society’s need to breach other people’s privacy. Well, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield found a way to use this negative privacy invasion to promote some good causes.

I don’t quite understand the tabloid industry. I don’t get a buzz out of seeing celebrities shielding their face as they leave a restaurant after a date. I don’t like seeing blurry, far-distance shots of celebrities playing with their children on the beach. And I don’t understand the attraction of reading about rumours hypothesising about a star’s latest fling.

Wouldn’t you rather see a glamorous picture of these people walking down a red carpet or posing at a launch for a movie, album or product their have just released?

Regardless of how I feel about the issue, there are clearly a number of people who feel contrary which keeps these magazines in production. But Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have found a way to get some good out of this painful experience as paparazzi follow them around trying to get pictures of the couple going on dates and spending time together.

Having spotted some paparazzi waiting them to leave a restaurant after breakfast a few days ago, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield took the liberty of crafting some powerful signs. They used their celebrity status and the following publicity generators to get word out about some organisations which would greatly benefit from the publicity that they are receiving.

The signs read: “Good morning. We were eating and saw a group of guys with cameras outside. And so we thought, let’s try this again. We don’t need the attention, but these wonderful organisations do:, (and don’t forget), Here’s to the stuff that matters. Have a great day!”

This charitable endorsement not only brought publicity to the charities which are close to this couple’s hearts, but also solidified Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield’s brands as supportive of the community. It is nice to see this popular couple using their publicity powers for good!
