Who says it’s bad luck to open an umbrella inside?

When it comes to the theatre, opening those umbrellas inside seems to bring nothing but good luck to the current award-winning production of Singin’ in the Rain playing around the world. And now it is on its way to Australia for a national tour starting in Melbourne from May 2016!

Singin in the Rain

Singin’ in the Rain is one of the most iconic musicals. Up there with Wicked, Phantom of the Opera and The Sound of Music, you would be hard pressed to find a person who wasn’t aware of the famous Gene Kelly movie or the ever-popular theme song. And this enduring legacy means that it is the perfect show to revive for current audiences.

Opening on the West End in 2011, this sell out production thrilled audiences with lavish sets, high-octane choreography and the impressive spectacle of 12,000 litres of water (which is, of course, recycled each performance) raining down on the stage. Since then it has toured throughout the UK, around New Zealand and will now travel to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in 2016.

Leading the production, and taking on Gene Kelly’s iconic role of Don Lockwood, will be Australian-born international song-and-dance man Adam Garcia. After getting his start in the Australian production of Hot Shoe Shuffle and founding Tap Dogs, Adam has performed in West End productions of Wicked, Saturday Night Fever and Kiss Me Kate. (And also received two Olivier Award nominations). He has most recently been seen as a judge on Australia’s Dancing with the Stars and will now be proving his own dancing ability eight times a week in front of Australian audiences.

This is a musical that will attract everyone from ages 8 to 80. So with tickets going on sale from Friday 8 May, you had better get in quick to avoid missing out!
