Singin’ in the Rain Cast Announcement

The splash-hit West End stage production of Singin’ in the Rain will be returning to Melbourne next May before touring around Australia. The previously announced Adam Garcia will be leading the new production as Don Lockwood, and today producers announced the full Australian cast!

Singin in the Rain

Adam Garcia, who will play the lead role of Don Lockwood, has quite the impressive dance resume. Most recently appearing as a judge on Channel Seven’s Dancing with the Stars and the UK’s Got to Dance, he started the hugely successful tap group Tap Dogs. Since then, this triple threat has wowed West End audiences in stage productions of Saturday Night Fever, Wicked and Kiss Me Kate which have won critical acclaim and two Olivier Award nominations.

Joining Adam as Don Lockwood’s comedy sidekick Cosmo Brown will be Jack Chambers. Jack Chambers burst onto the Australian scene when he won the first season of So You Think You Can Dance. This victory was closely followed by a short stint in New York working as a choreographer and teacher at the Joffrey Ballet School before returning to Australia to star in Hairspray the Musical. One of Australia’s emerging leading ladies, Gretel Scarlett will take on the role of Kathy Selden. Having graced Australian stages in Mamma Mia!, Wicked and most recently as Sandy in Grease, audiences are quite quickly becoming ‘hopelessly devoted’ to her talents.

Rounding out the leading cast as Don Lockwood’s vapid and vocally-challenged leading lady will be Erika Heynatz, who was nominated for a Helpmann Award after starring in Legally Blonde and earned rave reviews for her portrayal of Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show.

Supporting this fantastic Australian leading cast will be Robyn Arthur as Dora Bailey, Rodney Dobson as Roscoe Dexter and Mike Bishop as RF Simpson alongside Ben Brown, Nadia Coote, Stefanie De Castro, Jan Di Pietro, Samantha Leigh Dodemaide, Ben Gillespie, Jillian Green, Melanie Hawkins, Matthew Jenson, Lauren Jimmieson, Rob Mallett, Sam Marks, Hayley Martin, Meghan O’Shea, Glen Oliver, Nathan Pinnell, Jordan Pollard, Romina Villafranca, Rachael Ward and Lyndon Watts.
