Hey There, Georgy Girl!

The Seekers were one of Australia’s first international bands. They were the first Australian group to reach No. 1 in the UK and the USA. ‘The Carnival is Over’ outsold everyone including the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. They are also the only concert artists to ever draw a crowd of more than 200,000 people to a concert in the Southern Hemisphere which occurred at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Now the new Seekers musical, Georgy Girl, is about to open for its world premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne.

Taking on the role of legendary Seekers lead singer Judith Durham is Pippa Grandison (Wicked, Mary Poppins) who had the daunting task of performing some of The Seekers’ most well-known hits in front of the formidable lead singer herself. Rounding out the rest of the band will be Phillip Lowe as Keith Potger, Mike McLeish as Bruce Woodley and Glaston Toft as Athol Guy. Also joining the cast will be Ian Stenlake as The Seekers’ tour manager John Ashby and Adam Murphy as the narrator Ron Edgeworth.

This talented lead cast will be supported by a fantastic company featuring Sophie Carter, Stephen Wheat, Todd Goddard, Alex Gibson-Giorgio, Cameron MacDonald, Lachlan Martin, Alex Given, Rubin Matters, Kirsten King, Loren Hunter, Alana Tranter, Madison Green, Michelle Smitheram, Madeleine Mackenzie, Matt Hamilton, Brenton Wilson and Shaye Hopkins.
