Australian Kinky Boots Cast Announced

Melbourne’s musical scene will be getting kinky in less than six months when the Australian tour of Tony- and Olivier-award winning musical Kinky Boots kicks off (pun intended) from Her Majesty’s Theatre. Following the true story of a traditional British shoe manufacturer’s journey from sensible to fabulous with the help of a few drag queens, the Australian cast tasked with bringing this story to local audiences has been announced today.

Leading the cast will be Callum Francis, as the fabulous drag queen Lola, and Toby Francis, as the young man inspired to revamp his family’s failing shoe business. Callum Francis will join the Australian cast straight from the West End where he understudied the same role with the London company.

Joining these two are a mix of accomplished and up-and-coming musical theatre performers including Sophie Wright (Lauren), Damien Bermingham (Don), Teagan Wouters (Nicola) and Nathan Carter (George) alongside Blake Appelqvist, Glenn Butcher, Hilary Cole, Jessica Condon, Denise Devlin, Euan Doidge, Daniel Downing, Bronte Florian, Linden Furnell, Ryan Gonzalez, Samm Hagen, Anthony Harkin, Joe Kosky, Jenni Little, Liam Peel, Emma Powell, Matthew Predny, Eric Rasmussen, Mark Stefanoff and Mitchell Woodcock.

After productions on Broadway and in London, Toronto, Seoul and US tours, this musical will open in Melbourne on October 12 2016 bringing music and lyrics by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell to Australian audiences.

Due to incredible demand, new tickets will be released on Monday 2 May 2016 with the musical extended until 27 November 2016.
