A Whirlwind Around-the-World Adventure
Do you need a holiday? Want to squeeze in as much travelling as possible? What if you didn’t need to leave St. Kilda? Around the World in 80 Days will take audiences on a whirlwind adventure from August 23rd at St. Kilda’s Alex Theatre. Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Incredible slapstick! This is the Amazing Race before the Amazing Race!
Around the World in 80 Days centres on inventor Phileas Fogg who takes on a bet that he can circumnavigate the world in 80 days or less. Accompanied by his faithful manservant Passepartout, and chased by a relentless Scotland Yard detective, this story takes audiences through India, China, Japan and America on an around-the-world journey to beat the clock and win the bet.
Starring in this new Australian premiere is Ian Stenlake (Sea Patrol, Guys & Dolls), Pia Miranda (Looking for Alibrandi, Goddess) and Grant Piro (Hairspray, The Drowsy Chaperone). However, they are not only playing the leading characters. Between these three renowned performers, they will also take on all the other roles in an impressive display of constant transformation.
Joining these actors is a fantastic creative team including set design by Merinda Backway, costume design by Lucy Wilkins, sound design by David Ellis and lighting design by Jason Bovaird.
Around the World in 80 Days will be running at the Alex Theatre, St. Kilda from Tuesday 23rd August to Friday 4th September. Get your tickets quick, because you wouldn’t want to be left behind on this incredible adventure!
