Like Mother, Like Daughter

Mamma Mia!, the musical phenomenon, is coming back to Australia for a national tour with a rather familiar face at the centre of the ABBA-inspired drama. Natalie O’Donnell made a name for herself in the original Australian production of this musical as lead character Donna’s daughter and bride-to-be Sophie. Now, she returns to the production 16 years later playing the role of Donna.

Joining Natalie O’Donnell is an all-star group of theatre performers. Rounding out the girl group Donna and the Dynamos will be Alicia Gardiner, fresh off her critical acclaim in Offspring, as Rosie and Jayde Westaby as Tanya who has wowed UK audiences in everything from Rocky Horror to Sweet Charity.

Replacing the role which Natalie O’Donnell originated during the first tour will be emerging Australian theatre talent Sarah Morrison as bride-to-be and Donna’s mischievous daughter Sophie. And playing the three potential fathers she invites to her wedding will be Ian Stenlake as Sam Carmichael, Phillip Lowe as Harry Bright and Josef Ber as Bill Austin.

Sophie’s fiancé Sky will be played by Stephen Mahy, alongside Monique Sallé as Ali, Jessica Di Costa as Lisa, Sam Hooper as Pepper and Alex Gibson-Giorgio as Eddie with an incredible supporting cast of Stephen Anderson, Jadie Bastow, Dion Bilios, Du Toit Bredenkamp, Annie Chiswell, Matt Edwards, Josh Gates, Caty Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton, Emma Hawthorne, Zoe Komazec, Sarah Kate Landy, Courtney Monsma, Clay Roberts, Leigh Sleighthome, Thalia Smith, Lisa Sontag and Zachary Webster.

This new production of the classic musical will begin its Australian tour at Canberra’s Canberra Theatre Centre from November 24th 2017 followed by seasons at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre in Brisbane from December 26th 2017, Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from February 11th 2018, Crown Theatre Perth from May 15th 2018, Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from July 10th 2018 and finally Adelaide’s Festival Theatre from October 9th 2018.
